Tucked away in the heart of Provence, the village of Les Baux-de-Provence—a proud member of Les Plus Beaux Villages de France—feels like a step back in time. Surrounded by rolling vineyards and ancient olive groves, this stunning location is home to Baumanière, a world-renowned hotel complete with a three-Michelin-starred restaurant and an indulgent Sisley spa.

A Hidden Oasis of Serenity
Baumanière is more than just a luxury retreat; it’s a sanctuary. Nestled within the Alpilles Natural Park, the estate is an ode to heritage, where every detail reflects a deep love for nature and a commitment to harmony. The moment you check in, time slows down. You breathe in the crisp Provençal air, let go of life’s daily rush, and ease into a gentler rhythm—if only for a few days.
A Feast for the Senses
The charm of Baumanière lies in its seamless blend of French countryside elegance. Every space, from the rooms to the gardens, is thoughtfully curated with a timeless aesthetic. One of my favorite details? The windows—framing the landscape like paintings, each view a masterpiece of nature.
Of course, no visit would be complete without a stop at the spa. Seeking renewal, I opted for a 30-minute exfoliating scrub featuring the local brand Une Olive de Provence. The scent alone—earthy, fresh, and distinctly Provençal—was enough to transport me. Next came a full-body relaxing massage, which, after a long journey, felt like an absolute reset. My skin, polished by the scrub, drank in the nourishing oils, and by the end, I felt a decade younger. Naturally, I rushed to the spa boutique afterward to stock up on my new favorite products, especially that heavenly scrub.

A Culinary Journey Through Provence
As the day wound down, it was time for a different kind of indulgence—dining at L’Oustau de Baumanière, led by Chef Glenn Viel. The Tasting Menu is an essential experience, showcasing the very soul of Provence. Each dish is a tribute to the land, with ingredients like organic vegetables from the estate’s own garden and locally produced olive oil. The cuisine is light yet deeply flavorful, refined yet undeniably rustic—a true taste of Provence.
And the wine? With a 75-year-old cellar housing 50,000 exceptional bottles, Baumanière is a dream for wine lovers. From legendary labels like Château Margaux and Château Lafite Rothschild to lesser-known gems, there’s a bottle for every palate. A wine tasting here is more than just an activity—it’s an experience.

A Retreat for the Soul
Baumanière has long been a retreat for those seeking peace and inspiration—including Hollywood icons. But this isn’t a place for late-night parties or buzzing nightclubs. By 10 p.m., the village is quiet, wrapped in the hush of the Provençal night. If you packed a party dress, it might just stay in your suitcase.
But if your goal is to reset, restart, and renew, you’re in the right place. And don’t forget your camera—inspiration is waiting around every corner.
